Default KirtwellJr's Final update

After being hospitalized for nearly 3 weeks Nathan has finally got back to his normal routine of being a kid and not a patient.

He has been through alot:
4 surgeries including a skin graft to close a large wound on his forearm that threathened to cost him complete control of his arm.
Today he is in great spirits except the fact he has such limited used of his hand. He still has a pin through his wrist which should be removed in a week and might help some of his hand's mobility but as of right now he is practically paralyzed in his hand. Hopefully with theraphy he can regain what he had. I am optimistic that he will and so is he..but he has a long painful road ahead of him.
He asked that I show you what his arm looks like (bottom)...These pictures are VERY graphic. I hope it doesn't disturb anyone.

Again,
Thanks for all the support and phone calls from ATM. Nathan can overcome this and he sure smiles reading all of the nice things you guys say about him.
Thanks again
Curtis

Nathan is an exceptional young man, Curtis. I know he'll work hard during the therapy to regain movement.

Those pics are brutal, but reality.

Let me know if I can do anything.

Now THAT'S what I call a good lookin' scar! I had two external pins in my thumb and it didn't hurt that bad having them pulled out. Just give Nathan a little pain pill before that doctor's appointment. I bet he'll be back to normal sooner than you think. That big smile of his always shows his positive attitude.
Cheers, Nathan! You'll be fine. Just work hard through your therapy!

Curtis,
Tell Nate we wish him well and a complete recovery from the accident. Those pics are grusome. I thought I looked bad in my mid section, front and back but those are the roughest I've seen outside of combat wounds. Ya'll are still in our prayers and will stay in them.

It amazes me how well the human body can heal itself (with medical intervention of course). Nathan couldn't be in better hands.

Hang in there Nathan!

Boy DPW hit it right on the head (Chicks like to see and feel scars) especially battle scars. Curtis, Nathan and Family your doing good, keep it up. Now I know therapy all to well, lots of pain but bunches of gain. Nathan, if you need a coach for therapy have your dad get in touch with me, I have good stories.

Kirtus, Man I feel for you bro. I know you want to take the hurt and pain from your boy. I pray you and Ginger can find a comfort area while he is in pain. The pictures makes me think again if I will let my boy ride mx. I think we will stick to woods. My wife looked at the pics and she said he ain't ridin motocycles!!!! If you or Nate needs anything let me know....is there a new game or something he wants.....really it would be my honor to give him a smile.

thinking of your family

Looks like Motoman has some competition in the arm scar department! That has got to be on fire.....I feel for the boy. At least he will be able to say it happened doing something he enjoyed. There are a million ways to get hurt, but not many of them are as cool as dirtbikes Get well soon jr.

Wow, is that a patch or what?? That's crazy that our bodies heal from stuff like this. In a gross way, that's kind of cool!!
