Thumbs up Keeping fit with age!

well my new years resolution is to loose weight and get fitter so i can do more riding for longer intervals. My goal is to compete at this years 3 hour enduro later in the year with the boys. so here's where iam at now, 115kg (250lb) scary i know, my goal is to get down to 92kg (200lb). So this is what i have started out doing so far, first up no Beer! no not a drop since new years eve. 30 miniutes every day on the treadmill walking and i can now do 3kl's in 30 min, which i hope is good, it feels like it anyway. Secondly no more snacks, iam a bad snacker and cheese eater so it's only 3 meals a day from now on and fruit if i feel snacky! Iam going to try to increase my training to 1 hour a day once i feel a bit more fitter, and do some boxing and other aerobic exercise to break it up, have any of you got any secret little things you do to keep yourself in shape or keep yourself from straying to far from ideal. Remember iam 47 not 17 so don't ask me to try marathon running or something similar: cheers Pete

Pete:

You off to a good start!

Try & keep away from Soda, to much sugar & salt!

Try taking the stairs instead of the elevator & take the dog(s) for longer walks if you have a dog?

Use your bicycle for short trips. I Don't know if you live in the city or out in the bush? but I live in the city & make a bunch of little trips where I can use the bicycle.

there is a book called body for life by bill phillips, its a very good book and a must read for anyone who is wanting to change their eating habits.

i followed their program religously and felt and looked better than i ever have.
it was a great 5 weeks, then i went back to being fat and eating junk food.

i have got to get started on a program myself!!
