Sorry to hear about your knee! I'm moving this thread so Dr. Mark can see it. Good luck on your recovery.

Now, about that new bike just sitting there....

Ignoring the fly in the background making noise, my brother had severe tears in the ACL and MCL. He took 9 entry points to get all the trimming done and clean out everything. He was down for 4 weeks and had PT every other day for three of the weeks. Pretty much depends on the person and how much has to be done. Best of luck my friend.

I've had the soft tissue cleanup a couple of times. Its no sweat when done orthoscopically (sp?), I was back to riding in about 6 weeks (with docs permission).

The ACL reconstruction was'nt as pretty and definitely not healed enough in 6weeks. Would'nt even think about riding in 6 weeks.

Do the PT and Good luck to you

Just like individual riders have varying talents, expecially so do doctors.

At our clinic, ordinary arhroscopic cases are back riding by two weeks.
ACL and other ligament reconstuctions are back riding by three months.

Please be sure to post up a report here when you feel like it, after you get the scope done. I hope you get some relief from any pain and recover full range of motion. Semper Fi!

Hey everyone. Just got a sec to logon again.

Went into surgery at noon and was awake by 3pm and on the way home by 3:30. Hardly any swelling really, and no pain for the most part. (prolly will hurt some tomorrow). The only funky part is the range of motion exercises Im doing grossed Melissa out because theres still lots of fluid still in there and when I was doing the post-op stuff you can hear this funky sloshing and squishing noises. Sounds pretty funky coming outta yer knee. haha

BUT, on the good side, theres no more knocking, clacking and cracking like it was. This thing was pretty noisey before.

Going to talk to the Doc in more detail tomorrow and get the finer details of what got trimmed or shaved inside there. By the time I woke up he was already in surgery again.

Oh, that stuff they put in the IV right as they roll you into the operating room? That stuff is goooooood !

Actually, that is the word 'YES' and an arrow.

When I was in the surgery prep area; the nurse went over my admissions sheet again, and asked me point blank: "Is this the knee you want worked on?" And pointed to my right knee.

I said, "Yes"

Then she wrote YES on there and put an arrow. Too funny !

I guess they ask that one last time to make certain there wasnt a typo or whatever on your chart and the wrong knee get scoped by accident.

LOL thats the truth. I got nuff hair on my chest & legs to make a round bale and the hair on my head is damn near all gone. Whats up with that?? !@#@$%#$%^

As for the shaving thing: Doc said no need shaving the knee area for only a few scope holes. Who knows, maybe them scrawny legs of mine would look better without all the fur?? NOT !

Okay, been one week today.

I can walk without hardly any limp. I have about 95% range of motion back and its not just too painful now. Does feel sore if it sits too long in any particular position, but it actually feels better to move it than sit still.

Slowly working on the atrophy part now. Been walking a few miles and using stationary bike, gonna start slowly on the elliptical tonight.

Gotta pull stitches tonight too.
