Back in May I crashed while riding down in Baja and broke my right collar bone pretty bad (or would you say pretty good?). I went sport bike riding the day after I got back from Mexico so I dont have a physical problem with riding but lately while riding my cr250r I worry that if I crash and land on my right shoulder it's gonna be REALLY bad. The way it is now you can clearly see the end of the bone sticking up and it's a pretty good sized bump. I turned 40 this year and wonder how fragile it really is?

I have had that kind of bump on the right side since I was 16. when I was 20 i got another on the left, darn it, they don't match though. Havent had one since then and been topside down more times than i care to count. my neck isnt what it should be, but the collar bones dont seem to matter. good question for an "orthopod"

Thanks, ya I have lived my life with the philosophy that if your gonna be dumb you gotta be tough and let me tell you I have become plenty tough. The Ortho doctor I went to said it would never be as strong as it was before but heck, it broke really easy when I dropped my front tire down in a bad wash and got high sided at 50 mph. I just seem to be more conscious of it when I ride now and was wanting another Doc's opinion. Thanks

You should get another doc to look at the xrays if you are curious. they didnt give me much advice on mine. years back a friend of mine broke his during a race. we used some "stuff" for splinting it, and he rode his final moto since he was leading the 7 western states for a title with the AMA (he won it in the end). He was in a lot of pain, but he was known for being able to stand it. Darn though, after he healed from that he had two molars which were impacted removed,,,he was worthless for 36 hours after that. I never had the molars out like him,,but man I would hate to go through it,,,the collar bone took weeks to be "normal" for me.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled back in the 80's when I was in the Navy, they gave me a local, pulled all 4 and sent me back to work.

I have no idea how to post my x-ray here(or pictures for that matter) but if you let me know how i will try to get it posted. My old boss used to use the "If your gonna be dumb you gotta be tough" and the older I get the more true I realize it is! Thanks.
