| there is some kind of neck pad you can buy and it is supposed to lower your body temperature a whole lot and makes it really easy to ride in the heat...cant think of the name but im sure someone on here knows what im talking about |

| Here are a few suggestions that helped for me. Pick up a set of vented gear so the wind will blow through it to help cool you off. I use Thor AC5. A higher priced helmet usually is ventilated better that the lower priced ones. I use a Shoei VFXR. Try and get out early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the hottest time of the day. The first two suggestions are going to cost a lot but the last one is pretty cheap. I haven't tried one of the neck things that you soak in water that someone else mentioned but I have seen them in sporting good stores. They are cheap so it would be worth a try. Sometimes it is just to hot so I stay home and wait for cooler days. |

Another easy tip is to cut some holes in an old jersey. That helps keep ya cool. Cut a few in the back, and some under the arms and on the side of your chest. Probably best to keep the front and the arms intact. Really, the heat isn't terrible when you are riding. But when you crash, or stop riding for some reason, the heat suddenly catches up to you. There's really nothing worse then crashing in the heat... |

| i second the vote for the thor ac5 gear. it can be expensive if you don't shop around. i got mine new on ebay, the jersey was $25 and the pants were $50. get out and start riding early. when we hit trails in the texas summers we get out there as the sun starts to rise and usually we're done by the time it starts to get toasty. also, if you're riding trails, get out of the trees once in a while. if you can get in an open area now and then you'll get some breeze that you won't get when you're up in the trees and trails. you'll appreciate it, and chances are your bike will too. -Z |

| With the exception of Texas, everyone chiming in is from Alberta or some other cold region where it actually snows. They know nothing of serious heat. Get out like "pack the gear up the night before early". Get your ride on and get out. OR wait until the fall. Jeez, I've been riding in this heat and it's not real healthy. I wouldn't recommend it. I swear I have felt the begining stages of heat stroke. The sad part is, it might have been hours before I got some kind of help. I started dry heaving, lightheaded and the scariest, I stopped sweating. Make sure you go with someone, that's a good idea regardless of the weather. |

| Another thing, enough with the cutoff's. Riding in shorts is for freestylers. How 'bout, ride without a helmet, that'll keep you cooler. Please, if you were really that dumb, by all means do the rest of us a favor. |

| Going this Friday morning to the track at Berthoud, Colorado if anyone's interested - sorry, days off are Friday/Saturday... AND I WILL have the camelback along (two extra in a cooler?), AND I'm not going to be interested in impressing any "girlz," AND my premix is 32:1 Belray HR1, AND... what else... Oh, AND I'll not worry whether or not ATM has become a teen forum. I'm jest goin' ridin.' jim P.S. I'll be the one in full gear as it seems there's an ambulance there most every day to transport some hapless... uh person... to the emergency room because they went riding on a MX track in a pair of shorts, a T-shirt and a pair of $100.00 tennis shoes. [and invariably one shoe is found lying 100 yards away from the other] |

| Heat? What Heat? The key is to ride as fast as you can, have plenty of water iced down and bring an EZup. The Thor AC gear helps ALOT!!!! |

Seeing as I was the only one from Alberta that responded I guess that was directed at me. Just to clearify it a bit. In the last 6 years I have spent 2 summers in Houston, 1 in Brownsville TX, 1 California, 1 in Barbados and 1 in Dallas. Last time I checked they got some pretty serious heat in those parts. If you want to know about the cold too. I've spent plenty of time up above the arctic circle in January and Febuary. |
