I just quit "cold turkey"- I more or less quit buying them and slowly weaned myself off when others would offer. It took me probably a month or two to quit (I was a chewer mostly). I decided to quit when I couldn't walk across campus anymore without losing my breath. I have no regrets! The hard thing I don't think most people think about is... no matter what, the craving will ALWAYS be there, you just have to ignore it

I guess I was lucky ,every time I would try to smoke I would get sick and real light headed.I don't see how anybody gets past that point. So I never started. My friend quit and he told me he got a bunch of cinnamon flavored toothpicks to chew and hold on to .I guess having something to fiddle with helps.Helped him,its been 2 years and hes still quit.....Good luck

Two words:

Smoke Away!

After ten years of smoking and several attempts to quit. After five days of smoke away I was smoke free. It's now been five months! I am soooo happy to be out of the death grip of smoking.

Congrats on your decision to quit!

Smoking is a factor in so many different diseases, I could fill a whole page with them.

The lungs can actually reverse the damage done to them after a long enough period of abstinence.

Our pharmacy instructor says that quiting smoking is harder than quitting cocaine.

The nicotine in tobacco is EXTREMELY addicting!

Support from friends and family members is a good thing to have!

Sometimes the nicotine gum can help to wean you off if you are unable to do it cold turkey.

Again, congrats on the decision!
Your body is already thanking you!

Quitting tobacco IS harder then cocaine. Not nessecarily because of the physical addiction, but the temptation. Everywhere you go, a Camel billboard, a KOOL sign. Theyre so accesable, the temptation is 10x higher.

Ok, heres a good picture/analogy..

Go outside, and richen up your jetting..ALOT. Now, look at the silencer, and lick it..Oh you wont? Well all that spooge is exactly what your lungs look like. Now, wait, the bike foulded a plug, and is really sluggish. Yep, just like a cig. Smoking is stupid. PLain and simple, you get NOTHING out of it. You wanna releive stress? Go punch a punching bag. Not "being able to quit" is a sign of weakness. Polluting your body for stress, is a bigger sign of weakness. Just smoking in general is weaker then the nerds in your strength training class.

Smoking cost way to much, does nothing for you, and harms a lot of people other then yourself. I had a teacher, who's mom or someone related to them, die of smoking..wait, not it was second hand smoke. So just remember you can be a murderer if you wanna look at it that way, and a suicidal person too.

Sorry if I offended anyone, but this is coming from someone whos parents both smoke, has a grandfather with a damn oxygen tube in his nose, and a grandmother who lost many years of her life due to drinking. Drugs, are dumb.

That may be true, but I think our instructor was saying that the drug nicotine itself was more addicting than cocaine!:

If that doesn't help, maybe this will...

In the last five years my Mom has lost an aunt, an uncle and a cousin to lung cancer. She has one aunt left, who has lung cancer and had a lung removed a year ago - now the cancer is back. They were all smokers. Those who died all did so within two weeks of the cancer being found. From what I understand, there are no real screening tests for lung cancer, so usually, by the time it's found, it's already spread.

Ok...I'll stop now.

Seriously, I am not one to gag. But in 8th grade I saw a peice of normal lung, and one who was a smoker. Um yea, I would rather eat the spooge covered packing out of my silencer with pig lard and hot sauce on top, then smoke on cigarette...Yea, thats what the little peice of lung, amongst other things of the sort have done to me.

Yea, not more then 2 months ago, my moms friends mother died, and it's sad to say it, dont think my Grand dad has much time left either. He damn near blew his face off trying to smoke while taking oxygen..Old people, they just dont learn their lesson do they?

If you think about it, its sorta like suicide, but you dont think your hurting yourself. Dude quit. Smoking doesn't do a thing for you except make you sick. Think of how much healthier you would be and how much better you would feel if you didn't have to worry about passing out or being diagnosed with some disease everytime you light up. Stop smoking and I gaurantee you will feel alot better about yourself.

Just because a thread is in a forum and it's not locked doesn't mean that you should post on it if you find it.

The last post before your was 4 months 28 days before yours. That's a very very long time.

Uh. sorry, I agree opening up old topics is kinda dumb, but I dont see it anywhere in the rules that you cant voice your opinion/comment cause of the threads age.
