Default A-Fib

Well as some of you may know I've had a minor heart issue for about a year now, well for a while now I've been taking medication which has helped alot. But for the last week and a half I have been in A-fib constantly. The medication isn't working anymore. My doctor has been in Japan teaching for a week but we got an email from him last night and they are scheduling me for a "procedure" called a Catheter Ablation [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] . I am told that it is pretty simple procedure however I am still pretty nervous, but I've been feelign like crap for almost two weeks. I get out of breath just walking to the restroom, putting my shoes on etc. So I decided it's time to take care of this crap. Good thing is the recovery time is like 24 hours So it won't effect my riding plans

Usflag Re: A-Fib

I have had a heart cath for chest pains. No real pain in the procedure. My father-in-law had an angioplasty and said it was not bad at all. If this works as well as I understand it does you should notice a difference in the shortness of breath almost immediately. The tiredness may take a short time but the recovery is aided by the better control of the heart rhythm.

I am at the point where recovery from all the abdominal surgeries is taking much longer with too many surgeries too close together (12 since 2000.) If you can take care of the A-Fib now you will be way ahead of the game. Listen to the cardiologist about meds if you still need them and about physical therapy or cardiac rehabilitation should he want you to do one or the other.

Best of luck with the procedure and know that we have you in our prayers here. You will be lifted up daily. Keep us updated as you feel like doing so.

Bill
