I dont like energy drinks to much but the only one I like is Red Bull.
I mostly drink gatorade or water during riding/sports.

would you agree that alot of gatorade makes you pee alot though? it makes me. i hate it when it happens right before a race to. i notice that powerade dont as much and seems to keep my cooler after a race and helps refresh me better. i guess i should make a poll for gaterade and powerade also huh LOL jk

A sports trainer once told me to drink some water, but not too much. You will over-hydrate yourself and you need to have a certain level of sodium and electrolytes. I think that is what it was. If you drink a lot of water, you should also drink some gatorade, powerade, etc. I'm not sure if that makes any sense the way I said it?

I heard that Pedialyte mixed with water was supposed to be good. Anyone else ever hear of or try this?

BTW for those who drink just water...you may be HOT and you may be de-hydrated and want to drink water...nothing wrong with that...but dont we all love ICE cold water?...i sure know i do...but if your riding and need water replacmant...room temp. water will hy-drate the body faster then cold water..i cant exactly remember why room temp. water works faster and better then cold water...but iv been told by more then one doctor about this topic...luke warm is better for hydration then cold water...but yeah warm water dont feel as good going down as the cold

just a FWIW

found it. it came from Digger Doug Gust's site [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] it has alot of stuff like that and also has some other cool stuff like giveaways. check it out. anyhow, below is the article on water and pedialyte:

As you’ve discovered, just drinking water may not completely eliminate dehydration. When your body sweats, you loose more than just water, you also loose electrolytes (salts and minerals). This puts your body’s chemistry “out of whack”, and just plain old water isn’t enough to fix it. In addition to drinking lots of water, be sure to get some salty foods like pretzels or crackers. The salt and carbohydrates in these foods, along with water and time, will help put your body’s chemistry back on track.

Many athletes drink “Electrolyte” drinks to re-hydrate or pre-hydrate. Gatorade, Powerade, and Pedialyte are popular examples. Gatorade and Powerade have a lot of sugar, but otherwise they’re O.K. Pedialyte, however, contains too much potassium for an adult dose (remember, it is designed for sick infants). It’s combination of electrolytes does not match those minerals lost during perspiration. It’s also very expensive (about $20 per gallon at my local store…). Save the Pedialyte for your sick kid.

A better option is a product called Electromix. It comes in a packet that will mix into a gallon of water and costs about $1 per gallon to make. The drawback to this product is that you could get too much magnesium. You must not consume more than 1 packet per day, and stay away from any other magnesium supplements. Also, it can be hard to find in the stores. Look near the vitamins and medicine.

Everyone’s body chemistry is different, so there’s no perfect solution that will fit everyone. Just remember that you need more than just water to replenish what you sweat out. Also, drink more than what you’re thirsty for and let your body decide what it wants to keep. That’s why there are so many portable outhouses at the race track…

Hmm, interesting article. Thanks for posting.

The only comment I have is, since when would getting potassium be a bad thing? Isn't that half the reason most of us eat a banana on race day?
