Default Dr. Mark works his magic

My middle son, Bryan made a nasty landing on his YFZ450 a little over a year ago and suffered a bad compression fracture to his Radius bone of his left arm. The surgery and healing yielded less than desirable results. The tendons and possibly another injury led to the bone healing with a bulge on the side of his arm and also with the bone being about an inch shorter than it should be. The result was limited use of his arm, wrist and hand (about 25%).

We went to Dr Mark Sanders who simply said "I can fix that"

Had surgery Friday 1/12/07, first Physical therapy Monday 1/15/07 worked the wrist at 45% flexion, second therapy today with 75% flexion. Dr. Mark is hopefull of 75-85 % use of his wrist back to normal riding in six months.

Makes a difference when someone cares, first Doc just scolded him for riding!

I've posted a Pic in my Photobucket for those with a strong stomach, any of you medical people out there will recognize the quality of this repair.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...e/Bryanarm.jpg

Pop...looks like he re-broke it and plated it at the length it ought to be?

That is cool picture! Nice looking hardware!

He cut the bone, plated at the correct length and added bone graft to make up the difference.

Great to hear! I hope he regains that 85%+ back.

P.S. It looks like Dr. mark left a cresent wrench in there. You might want to have someone take a look at that.

Pop:

Tell Bryan that I hope he get all of his movement back, just let him know to keep working it, as you well know.

You can also tell him to start with lite curls, NO 40 oz until he has worked the arm for a while

That's awesome. I'm glad to hear it went to so well. It is amazing what can happen when you get a compitent Doc, who does care, and actually wants to make a difference, not just his next house or car payment.

Way to go Dr Mark :2thumb
