What do you all subscribe to when it comes to dieting? For me, I am pretty skinny anyway and dont need to loose weight. I just try to watch what i eat, i eat as much as i want, but i try to avoid foods that are generally bad for you. Like doughnuts, i try to stay away from those and choose a bagel instead for breakfast. Also when at a fast food resturant usually I will go for the chicken sandwich instead of the 1/2lb flame broiled fat burger. How about yourselves?

For me about the same!! However, getting on in age now, it seems the fat is winning some terrain so I think it's best to look out for something like a little diet from time to time. I also eat alot of fruits like bananas, oranges, apples the usual stuff

i usually stick to a higher protien, moderate carb and avg fat diet...i do eat fats that are unsaturated like omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. they are harder to obtain but they can be found in fish...i just use flaxseed oil as a supplement. actually studies in men found that above average amounts of unsaturated fats can actually help produce muscle and burn fat...it does this by raising testosterone levels which is best when it comes to muscle gain/fat loss.

I'm not a real believer in a traditional diet per sae. I don't believe in doing something diet wise that you aren't willing to do for the rest of your life. I personally try to avoid pop/soda in general (try being the operative word). I would like to work out period, but diet wise, I try to just eat smart, and try to at least eat 3 meals a day. I also try not to eat too much. When I feel satisfied, I stop eating, regardless if there is still more.

I think Woody makes a good point about diets...as in these lose weight super fast kind that are so popular. I don't think the rapid weight loss is healthy for you. That is JMO, though. As for me...I try to avoid pop too...one or two cans a week. I eat whatever I want, although up here that doesn't really involve any fast food, but, I stop when I feel full. Not so full that my belly hurts, but just full enough. I generally try to eat my bigger meals in the afternoon, and most important that I've found for me, no snacks in the evening.

I eat a lot of fruits and veggies and no sodas or sugary drinks. I am going to become a lean mean machine this year and am off to a good start. Now, where is that double meat whopper...

I dont drink alot of cokes and try to stay away from fast food as much as I can. Salads, Pasta, Fish,Baked Potatoes, Chicken and Rice are the types food we eat. Before we go for a weekend of racing we eat a steak. At the track when we camp all weekend, it is just camping food like hamburgers cooked on a grill for supper and eat a good breakfast with trail mix and granola to snack on during the day.. Around the house we drink tea, bottled water and milk. Orange juice in the morning. Last edited by VET393; 01-04-2004 at 09:23 AM.

I agree, diets are temporary, it has to be a permanant change in eating habits to stick. I also eat my biggest meal at lunch and then dont snack in the evening. Breakfast is usually a nutra grain bar and coffee (except for Sundays when I make homemade donughts). The one thing I need to work on is drinking more water!! I really dont like drinking water. blahhh

I'm sorta low-carbing it. NO: sodas, potatoes or bread. Lite yogurt and grapes for breakfast and a plain burger (no bun) for lunch. Started out right at 200lbs and am now down to 193 ish after 2 weeks. That all being said, this morning at the local greasy spoon, I had biscuts and gravy w/homefries smothered in gravy also. I fall off the wagon every once in a while.......

cutting out any food group completely is unhealthy. we are omnivors, which means we eat everything. the funny thing about the reccomendations is how much they change. I remember when butter was the big sin and margerine was the way to go, now margerine is taboo, and butter is better. eat a healthy variety, and don't over do it. AND ABSOLUTELY DO NOT MOVE NEXT DOOR TO A KRISPY KREME STORE AND EAT 6 DOZEN DOUGHNUTS PER WEEK Trust me.................

As for diet, I try (and I stress try) to eat somewhat healthy and watch my intake of fat, other then that I eat whatever I feel like at the time. |

I figure your body is just like any machine. You get out of it what you put into it. Keep the oil fresh and the airfilter clean in your bike, and it will run strong and wear out slower. Eat right and get good excercise, and you will perform better and live longer. I agree with yardpro, cutting out any food group is a bad idea. I just try to eat plenty of greens, wheat stuff, meats, etc... and just avoid saturated fat. I also drink plenty of milk and OJ.
