Another one on the injured list guys and gals. Yesterday during work, I was working with a crazy guy. we call him crazy because he's always hammering at things like a wildman. Well I had to hold something while he tried to hammer another thing out. By the 5th or 6th blow he gave, he lost grip of the hammer and the thing flew right at my little finger. Went to the doctor and after some photos we saw that the bone had two little cracks in it. Normally I should wear a hard piece over the finger for 3 weeks, but I have a championship race coming up this sunday and I have to defend my first place. I can remove the hard piece over my finger and I'm going to take some painkillers on sunday to ride!! Does anyone else have ride with the same thing and maybe has some advice about taping my finger to another or just put some tape over the glove for strength, please tell me your opinions!!! Thanx Raf

To make sure your finger heals correctly it has to be kept straight. Well its your finger so u can bend it if your want. I would take off the splint, tape up your finger, then put your gloves on. Just keep that finger straight.

Why in the world were you holding something while a "known" crazy person was hammering it? That sounds like a better story than riding with it like that!

lol, yes wear a mitten! You can then tape your fingers togather under the glove! J/K Umm what ever you do dont ride with the splint on. I messed up my middle finger playing basket ball and then i decided to ride with my splint on and i broke the splint

| i've done this same thing before... lucky you it's only your pinky. What i would do is ask the doctor for a bigger splint, then here's what you do. Tape up your finger or stuff your glove with tissue or papertowel and make sure that the glove is Really tight on that figner... but not so tight that you cut off the circulation. This way it still should be able to move a little bit but will still keep straight for the most part, while your other fingers are able to grab onto the clutch, or the brake (depending on what hand it was). Also if you have practice laps i would use the larger splint over the glove to see how you like it and just tape it over top. Also, you can try changing the bend of the splint. Instead of keeping it straight... put a bend in it. That's what my doctor did for me and it helped. Just don't put the bend by where it is broken. If it is broken at the top nuckle, bend it at the next one. Hopefully your clutch/brake is loose enough so that you only need to use your index and middle finger. If you have to use your pinky while pulling it in i suggest you loosen that up a little bit. Hopefully i helped a little. That or totally confused you. Be Safe and best of luck with your race.
