Default Can you take a look at my ankle?

I twisted my ankle tonight and it has never swelled quite like this before, so I took some pics. Should I go see a Dr. or should I wait and see. It hurts, but I can walk on it still. What do you think?

Doc...take a look at those toes and Sasquachian leg while you're at it...

Kidding Woody, that looks pretty bad. Have you tried the heat and cold rotation while elevated? It should really hurt in the morning.

WOW! Looks like a trip to the Doc to me. Remember RICE?? .. REST, ICE COMPRESSION and ELEVATION. I suppose all that couldn't hurt.

Then I'm about as qualified as they come.

I don't want to put a scare in you. My experience has been ankles (and wrists) don't swell unless something is wrong. I also think twoofeach (toe) is onto something there.

I'd say you are the least qualified as they come... Actually, I remembered the RICE technique but couldn't remember the corresponding words.

Kenny, did you see Vandy almost punk Florida? My team plays USC this weekend. Fresno State Bulldogs BABY!

I have hurt my ankle before and it has swelled up, just never as concentrated as this one. I can usually walk it off too. I was able to walk it off mostly, but when I pulled my shoe off, this is what I saw. And yes, I have unusually long toes.

Wow Woody Y...nothing like having the guys on the board comment on how good looking your legs are, huh?

I don't know what DrMark is going to tell you, but until then, definitely wouldn't hurt to follow Kenny's advice of RICE. That looks pretty uncomfortable. I'm no doctor, but I would think some Ibuprofen would be in order too...at least, I'd want some on board.

If it wasn't for those toes you'd only wear a size 9 boot.

I had ice on it for about a half hour. Now I'm going to bed (the rest part). Quite frankly I'm flattered that my toes got noticed.

Those are like feet fingers.

My ankles have swelled up like that before. At this point, you need to get the swelling down. Anti-inflamatories? Celebrex? I've got the RICE routine down to a science. I think I have a spot worn out on the sofa. Well...that might be from something else.

I'm not even going to try and guess what the heck you're talking about. I'll get some ice back on it while I watch Leno.

OUCH! That's pretty huge. My ankle is jacked up too (not currently like yours, but it's jacked).

I went to the doc a couple weeks ago and found that I have bone spurs and loose bones floating around at the place where my tibia meets up with my top foot bone (that's a technical term). I have another appointment with a specialist tomorrow, but I have to cancel it due to circumstances beyond my control.

I sure hope that thing starts feeling better.

Its worth getting an x-ray, but my best guess it is an ankle sprain. Here's the link to our Website. The webpage needs some updating, the only changes to be made emphasize walking on the leg without crutches and stretching the heel cord. Those two things are KEY

Thanks, Dr. Mark. It hurts really bad this morning when I try to walk on it, which it always has done in the past when I've injured an ankle, but not quite this bad. I can move it around a bit. The website says to elevate it for a few days. How bad is it if I don't do that? I am supposed to be siding my house right now and I don't have time to take off. My nephew has a rocket sock (ankle brace I think I'll borrow and see what happens. Thanks again for any tips and I'll continue to stretch it when possible.
