Unhappy Blew out my knee...

It finally happened... I blew out my knee all the way. I was out riding getting ready for the 6 hour Wisc. race and wrecked. I went to the ER and had x-rays taken. No broken bones luckly, but the muscle and ligaments may be ripped out on the inside of my knee. Not sure how bad yet. I am needing a good brace to keep it still though. I have an imobilizer on it now, but not much bracing. I cant walk on it at all, no weight can be ohn it, nor can I bend it. I will know thursday if i will need surgery. Now for some really good news, I was hired at a new job to run a C&C machine. Before this happened that is. I spoke with the head of the plant, I still have a job when I can walk again. And he wants me to train to be a supervisor from the get go. AWESOME! well I got to go, percecet is kicking in again. One day I will be back on the boards full time, just to many darn bills right now. Talk to y'all soon...
Ryan

Sorry to hear about your knee, Ryan. I feel your pain, albeit a little lower. I broke my ankle so I bet I am not walking when you are!

I had a nice write up in response to Pragmatic, I couldnt figure out how to copy, so I'll write again

First off, I appoligize for not being on much and supporting the site. It has been pretty hard for me these past few months. My wife is not working and bills and adding up. so the non essiential items had to go. Worse thing is I lost the web for a while till things level out.

But yes, even though I have hurt my knee, I still have the new job when I go back to regular work. I will be at $9.50 hr, training for supervisor, attendance bonus of $60 a week, and icentive at 4-6 months. Very glad to hear I still have it though...

Now for the good/bad news... Shoot, where to start... Good news:
No surgery as of now. I will find out on Aug. 12th for sure (or near there). Ihave a partial tear of the MCL about 1/2 to 3/4 long, the tissue/cartiladge between the knee that acts as a cussion is scared badly. Done that in high school wrestling. The bone on the top inside has a bad bruise. On the MRI it showed a spot about half dollar size of where it was. Doc said a few more inches would have broken it long ways down the middle. I guess that would have ment a rod placed in it... got REAL LUCKY!!! I am sure I have forgotten something with this? But that's the sum of it.

I am now doing physical therepy for one month 3 times a week. During this time I will be given progress reports etc... as for how I am doing. As of now I have lost 1.5-2 centimeters of muscle tone, and have the same in swelling/inflamation. Not bad, could be worse. I had my first session on Friday just before work. I was looking to be hurting all night. But I felt great! I done several stretches and range of motion tests. I started with about a 30 degree bend and by the time I left, I had 90 or so. I was treated to electralisis (SP) after all was done. Never felt so gooooddddd Thats pretty much it till I do a few more sessions. When I get a few more sessions in, I will update on progression. Thanks for teh support, and sorry again that I am a hit and misser. I hate the time away and want very much to return the the boards full time again. Y'all are great... THANKS!!!

Ryan
