Default Returning to the Scene of the Crash. Three Palms GP Track.

I had the pleasure of riding Three Palms for the first time on Monday after GMB VII. As it turned out, It was just Imahoot, Char, and myself. What a perfect opportunity for us to have some serious fun! We filled out all the paper work and paid our money. Char asked me where I wanted to ride. I said, "I wanna ride there!", pointing at the main track. It was prepped to perfection with one rider on it. She responded, "I know you wanna ride there but I haven't been to the GP track since I busted my knee cap". At that point, I knew the GP track was where I wanted to ride. It was hard and dry with just a few sandy spots in the corners. Most of the jump faces had ruts and kickers. An excellent track to work on our skills! Actually, we didn't work too hard on any skills. Char and I are both coming back from surgeries so we needed to work on stamina more than anything else. We rode a solid 3 hours and were whooped! It was a fun ride and I think I had a smile on my face all the way back to Oklahoma. Tina got most of the video. Thank you, gurl! Char and I ran beside each other quite a bit and we even switched bikes a couple of times. Just a relaxed, fun day of riding. I charged into a corner outside of her once and tried to squeeze her to the inside. She didn't budge. Just laughed at me. You can hear her at about the 2:55 mark. Got a little video to share with you guys.

Sweet, I must say I enjoyed 3 palms especially the SX track...I loved that track very fun. When I was there the GP track was HORRIBLE....very dry and looked like it hadn't been touched with any machinery for weeks. I did about 10 laps on it though, def would be fun with some prep work.

Wish I could have been there with you guys on monday, downloading the video now.

Indeed it was! There was a kid out there sporting minimal gear that we laughed at. Char and I had just switched bikes and he waited on her to hit the track. He jumped in behind her like he was gonna challenge her. He couldn't hang with her even though she was on a bike she wasn't totally comfortable with. Gave up after one lap.

Wish you could have too. The ruts and kickers seriously stole much of my confidence. I didn't try to clear too many of the jumps. Even though the track was in such pitiful shape, it was one enjoyable ride. Must have been the company.

Man, what a great time that was!

It was kinda weird but very good to get back out on that track after my little spill. As I rolled my first lap I realized that the last time I'd ridden there, I didn't even make a whole lap. It kind of made me laugh.

The track sucked that day, no doubt about it. However, the day could not have been more perfect. I had a blast riding with Ima and Jedi. I feel kinda silly that ya'll can hear me laugh, but that wasn't the only time I laughed while riding that day. It was just that much fun. I knew it was a good day when Ima came back to the pits with a huge grin on her face. Good times, fo sho!

Thanks for posting the video, Jedi.

Indeed! And nobody even crashed! There may have been a close call or two but I don't really remember that far back.

Yeah, there may have been a close call.

In the video you can see Jedi jumping into a section of roller/whoop thingies. It's not a long jump, but it can be intimidating because it's a ski-jump type of deal and if you do come up short, it's going to hurt. I know it's something I've never done and probably never will do even though I know I have the speed.

Anyway, Jedi is looking at it and is pretty sure he can get over it. Ima agrees to video and I take my camera out there and we get in position, figuring we have a couple minutes because he said he was going to size it up some first. He lied. He comes out of the corner on the gas and I'm thinking, "He's going a bit fast to be "sizing" it up." Well, he never backs off, just keeps accelerating and I'm thinking, "Dang, he's going to jump it!" So I get my camera ready and Ima is fumbling with the video camera. Well, he hits it with barely enough speed. There must have been a kicker because his rear end kicks a tad sideways and he shorts it every so slightly. He immediately gets back on the gas and at this point I'm not really taking any more pics because I'm thinking, "Ok, he's cleared it.".

Well, he was totally out of rhythm for the rest of the rollers and about this time my thought process went something like this...

"Oh wow, he's gonna crash. Nope, he's gonna save it. Oh wait, he's going down. Oh no, he's got it. Berm! There's a berm and he isn't turning! Oh man, he's going down for sure. Look at him bounce over that berm, yep, there he goes. HOLY COW!! Are you kidding me? How the heck did he save that??!!!"

Apparently the force is strong with this one because while it didn't look pretty, he somehow managed to slide to a stop in a cloud of dust without falling over. I'm pretty sure he was talking an octave or two higher for a couple minutes afterwards, but the point is, he made it.

That jump is pretty intimidating right out of the corner. I use the inside line myself. I love that track! Just to be fair to the track owner, it was just after the hurricane so I'm sure they were more focused on the main track. When it's prepped, it is a blast fo sho!

Great video, Jedi/Ima! You guys look like you had a blast.

I forgot about the pictures!

Well, all I have to say is that was the worst kicker I've ever hit!
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
My eyes weren't even wide. pfft.

That's the jump on the outside line right before you come around to the starting area right? Right after that LOOOOONG table by the woods and then into a left hander and the outside line is that double right?
