Default Retro Night Coming Up. How 'bout Some Vids.

With the whole retro theme of A2 '08 quickly approaching, I've been scouring the net for some vids. These are long so you youngsters may not be interested. For those of you involved with SX in the late 80's, you'll want to watch these. Pretty cool stuff.

1987

This next one has footage as far back as 1975. All at LA Coliseum I believe.

Killer Vid.

Man I can't view the vids because my media player can not be verified. I "may have been a victim of software piracy".

I laughed at 3:35 in the vid when the annoucer says "these bikes can handle it, the suspension is so good now"

All you need is Windows Media Player. If by some chance you don't have it, it's a free download from Microsoft.

WOW! I had forgotten old school SX. How weird to see guys jumping w/o throwing some sort of sick whip! The sport certainly has matured entertainment wise

Wow, that was awesome, and how about all the names in those races, Eric Kehoe, the L&M Manager (can't remember his name), and all the others that we all know. That was awesome.

Though I can't remember the video it was in, I would really love to see some aspects of the older style tracks get used in todays modern tracks.

Specifically, I really enjoyed the s turn sections (turn, turn, turn, turn). I also think those older tracks are a lot harder than any track I've seen at a SX race. It would be great to see more of them get a lot harder. Some of those sections were just TREACHEROUS! I loved it.

The tracks of today look so easy to the spectator (though, I know well that they are not) because of the way everything is so smooth and finely tuned. I seems to me that viewers would be more interested in watching the races if it was more entertaining, and the old races posted in this thread were exactly that... VERY ENTERTAINING! Of course the bar banging was awesome too, but it seems like the track actually contributed a lot to that bar banging. It wasn't that they wanted to bang bars, but they were going so fast on such a wicked track that they just ran into each other. It was awesome to say the least.
