With the air cooled engines there is a big benifit to header wrap. It contains the heat from the header so that it doesnt radiate back into the engine and increase the engine temp. Sure it will get dirty, but if it helps the engine run cooler and adds some power its worth it in my book.

I'm getting ready to get some and wrap my XR pipe with it, its amazing how much heat is ratiated back to the engine on my 400.

Well also the hot air flows faster than col air. So with the header wrap in it keeps the hot air in and flows faster making less backpressure which results to more power.

Im not sure. I dopnt think it will. If you want the same affect on a 2-stroke then you will have to have it ceramic coated. Does the same exact thing but cost a little more.

my dads truck has ceramic coated headers and i was wondering if that was any thing like chrome because they are shiny

Im not sure if its the same as chrome. Probly cause chorme holds heat in aswell.
