This is one site that sells the kits and lipstick camera. If you were really gung ho, you could get all of the parts separately at an electronics store and save a few bucks, but these are already tested and ready to go.

I know that Ranger and psyklone both have a helmet cam, you might check with them.

Pysklone bought his from http://www.helmetcamera.com/ and is happy with it.

You will need a video camera to attach it to. He uses the Canon ZR60 and his video looks very good.

BTW...I am moving this to the video forum.

Also check how it connects to your camera. Some require analog inputs, others digital, and the best can do both.

yup ... zoo pretty much covered what i've got. it works great and it's compact. probably the most important reason i decided on the one that i got is the case that the camera sits in. the helmet cam has an aluminum housing that it sits inside of to protect it from being crushed by any impact (and we all know that happens!) and the front of the housing has a slanted plexi-glass face that takes whatever beating/scratching that the actual helmet cam lens would normally take ... plus the angle of the plexi-glass face deflects impacts from things like tree branches that jump out at you if your trail riding. one other thing to keep in mind when you're looking for a cam is whether or not you want a microphone. if you do, chances are you aren't going to get one with the standalone cams that you can get on ebay. with the cam i got you get the camera and microphone as well as the battery pack (6 aa batteries) that has interfaces to power both of them. those are the reasons i decided on the one that i got. please look around before you decide, though, and if you find a better deal please post back here because i know that there are others looking for helmet cams as well.

good luck!

zack
