Look at how wide the handlebars were, remember that the bikes handled so squirrelly that the wide bars were your stabilizer?

What an AWESOME slide show!!! Man, not just the bikes but the gear too. Open-face helmets , leather pants, no cross-bar pad on the bars, the men were MEN back then.

Carnagie Cycle Park...the last time I raced there they ran the mx track through a river bed full of television sized rocks. After a flat in practice, I honestly inflated my tires to 25 pounds for the race and still got a rear flat. That was my first mechanical DNF ever and those of you who know my anally retentive traits can understand why I was ready for the straight jacket!!!
