That is a great find! When was the last time you heard "And going to the line, the entire BSA team"? That was too cool!

Is it me, or did they look just as fast as the guys today? Consider that they are riding 265 pound bikes, too.

Ya the Greeves 2 stroke might have been 265lbs, but those BSA's where more like 365lbs.

You know Big M, I don't think I have ever heard that!

I bet Ron would love to see that film. I loved looking through his old magazines the other night. If we could harness the nostalgia from his garage, we would be rich!

Awesome, awesome vid! Vickers and his "cowboy" handlebars. I'm suprised there weren't more crashes. Those guys are tough!
Great post, Char!

I thought I was watching a modern race. 38 4 strokes and 2 smokers.

The AMA would have DQ'd Bickers for rough riding. I thought Smith was gonna go all Rex Staten on him after the race.

Oh, and by 1969 those BSA's were down to around 200 lbs. They were some of the trickest MXers to ever be produced. Massive amounts of titanium on the bikes. Of course by then the Suzukis of Joel Robert and DeCoster weighed in under 180.:

How awesome was that track? That is real motocross! BTW, that track is still around today.

That track was awesome....

I thought for sure Smith had Bickers, but he wasn't having none of that. Great racing.

Nice find Char....you go girl........be advised! I found the "worlds greatest supercross races 1975-1988" at bestbuy $17.Its a 5 disc set and has the 86 race between RJ and david bailey...all I have to say is wow.... The announcers were cheesy as hell but its amazing to see how aggressive the racing was back then.

Excellent post Char! I liked the battle for third when one rider looped out. The announcer was quick to mention that the rider was OK. I bet those guys would have loved to have the suspension todays bikes have! Of course, they were riding the best of the best for the day.

Loved that video. I was impressed with Bickers style. The part where he is rounding the offcamber going uphill you can really tell he has latched onto the bike with his legs. Great video
