Default GasGas300 outperforms 250r

I am posting this from an owner of a mint condition 250r who has purchased a new GG300. It was actually Pro-X 310r. If anyone is interested he is selling his r now. I can send you pics if anyone is interested. This is what I asked and what he said:

Is it fast?

Yes! I took it out to a woods track and a gravel road to see how it would run against some other popular quads. It will smoke a Z400 from beginning to end on a gravel road drag. Even with the
best Z400 pipe made (CT), it was closer but no match. I also ran it against an R with a Pro-X 310 cylinder, ported, pipe, aftermarket chassis and the same carb and Maxxis Razr tires.
The R was no match for it either on both acceleration and top speed. This R had a fresh motor on it and all of the racers that I raced against were experienced racers. It ran real well in
the woods, the only disadvantage was the front end width. With it being slightly wider in the front than my XC 310R, I was a bit afraid of smacking a tree.

How is the powerband?

Once I jetted it in, It was excellent! Stock, they are too rich, especially in the mid range. Your first impression is that it doesn't have a lot of lows and the power isn't super smooth.

After the jetting it has lots of lows and smooth power yet it will scream on top and rev quite higher than a 250R. I found that in the woods I could lug it like a 4-stroke to near idle speed
in 1st thru 3rd and it would pull hard and clean. Very controllable power, good for XC racing.

You can clearly hear the exhaust tone change when the powervalve opens up. I found that the in
the woods the valve was usually closed which gave me excellent low end power, which allowed me to maintain traction which also made it a good hill climber. When I would come out of the woods
into a field, just a quick slip of the clutch to get the revs up, the valve would open and it would flat out scream. If you were in 1st through 3rd or if your revs were already mid to high
in 4th through 6th, clutch slipping was not needed. We all do this with our R's.

You better get ready...the GasGas quads are coming. They aren't geting much hype because GasGas for some odd reason doesnt believe in marketing and say there quads will get the exposure they need as they start winning. I personally agree with that strategy but oh well.

As soon as Chad Duvall starts to race his GG450 people are going to start to take notice. Mickey Dunlap, Chad, and Brad Marci said the GasGas rides and shifts smoother than any they have ridden. All that has been done so far is shorter a-arms and tuning the Ohlins. Mickey also said the GG was by far the best race ready quad on the market out of the box.

I am sure it wont be long now.

It is pretty sweet, check it out

That's very promising. That's the way Krispy Kreme got noticed. They started handing out free donuts and next thing you know they're a national chain. That kind of marketing works and it's much cheaper.

I hope they do well. Competition is nothing but good for the consumer (US). I don't even know if you could buy a GAS GAS in Utah?

AS of right now I dont have any GG ATV dealers in Utah. I have 2 dealers for the trials bikes so they may pick them up if people ask about them. I am sure they could at least order one. one is in Salt Lake City, Rim Rock Racing, 801-474-0465 and the other is vernal sports center in Vernal Utah, I dont have a number for them.

I will add one to the site when I have one.

Right on... I wasn't even familiar with the trials shop. I'm sure they could order one if they needed to.

I bought mine out of phoenix from mike at hard rock trials supply. Its tough to say enough about this machine, I have rode most quads out ther and these machines are NICE!! Ive got about 300 miles on it and I love it seems to be just getting faster as it breaks in. It has been a little tricky getting the jetting dialed in but im pretty much ther,Im changing my gearing right now to get more torque for climbing ive had it out to little sahara a few times racing and im allways a gear lower with about the same speed as other bikes. Going with a 12/41 or 13/44 with 22-11-10 haulers.
we'll see what happens. ive got a few pics of it but not sure where to post it???

That's awesome. Where in Salt Lake are you? Those are some big paddles, you probably get some pretty good speed with those. Do you ride mostly dunes then?

I just loaded a couple of pics up.. I mainly ride dunes and a little desert like Knolls or go down south to st george-know a lot of good riding places there. Usaually go about every outher weekend. I live in the Fort union area of slc. I got it up to almost 80 last weekend at knolls but I had the stock wheels on it. Im sure with the paddles it would do at least 90+ but ill be gearing it down befor that happens. Its quite stable at speed and chuggs up hills instead of having to have it rapped out it or shift it down it will run almost like a thumper and pull it out..

We're headed down to the dunes this weekend. If you're going to be down there, I'll watch for you. That's a good looking quad.
