Default dirt bike for dirt "yes" but sand????

Ok check this out. I know dirt bikes are made for dirt and jumping but sand that is something else. I have this friend that lives by a road that is about 1 1/2 feet of nothing but sand. It is very easy to ride his 2001 2 stroke polaris on but a dirt bike with dirt tires on it. now I have road on this before with my 100cc 4 stroke madmai, and trust me it was a rush. I kept getting stuck, sliding back and forth, man I was scared to put my feet on the foot pegs, I kept them close to the ground, and good thing I did cause I needed them. That was the only thing keeping me up and balanced. so tell me have you rode on a road like this, or would you like to. Don't get me wrong it is fun.

Sand? I ride on sand all the time. Tell you what you gotta do....

First of all..keep your feet on the pegs. Hang your butt off the back of the seat and give it some gas. Seriously...it's almost like a boat, you gotta get it planing on top of the sand. The bike will dance a little, but use your knees to pinch the seat...if that makes any sense at all.

That's my method anyhow... The faster you go, the smoother it gets

yeah just lean all the way back and pull the throttle back all the way...probably should keep it in second gear so you dont bog down in power.

I will second you on this, I LOVE THE SAND!! Pingers on sand is amazing. You have to have a paddle to really enjoy it, you will be fighting your self with out one.

thats just like riding dunes, only your not going up a huge hill

everyone else has already said it, lean back and give it gas!

sand riding is FUN! its even more fun when its wet, and you can lay the bike over and roost the crap out of your friends with heavy, wet, itchy sand

Just get on the bike, put it in second, and crack that throttle wide open and haul through it!

Just keep the gas wide open and you'll be fine the slower you go the more the front will get buried in the ground.

I grew up learning to dirtbike on the Lake Michigan dunes,, and now live in Florida which is 90% sand..
Don't try to hold a death grip on the handlebars.. they will wobble but it is OK... And actually a wider front tire with trials tread instead of motocross tread help too, but is not really necessary..
