Default 2001 YZ250F compatibility with 2002 YZ250F

I'm aware that the 01 250f and 02 are similar, but I was wondering if a bottom end from an 01 would fit on an 02? also an 01 gas tank. I started parting out my bike but realized it would cost a lot less time just buying a working bottom end. Already sold my gas tank and I found a good deal on an 01 tank.

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm almost positive that there are VERY few, if any differences between the two.

dont let my handle name fool you, i did have a 250f (i am lukeyz250f over at ThumperTalk).

anyways, most if not all the gear should fit. I know that my 05 could take a lot of parts, and my friend had a an 03 that could not take an earlier tank (i think there are small changes to the frame, especially around the gas tank and oil inlets). i think on any bikes, the gas tank is the hardest to source because of slight frame changes year-year, especially gusseting and head angle changes which change the seating of the tank.

anways, not much help, but i would take a plunge, especially if you can source one cheap (and reliable). you dont want to inherit someone else problem, especially on a 4-stroke.

The 01 and 02 are 100% beyond a shadow of a doubt identical. As in EXACTLY the same. Not different. Not even a little. Unless you count graphics.

you can always go to a Yamaha dealers website and check the part numbers for both models and that way you can tell for sure. But like cowboyona426 says, they are 100% the same.
