Default What forks will work on a 96 cr500 from different years/models?

I ran into a problem with my forks and need a new set.. Has anyone done a fork conversion on this bike? 1996 cr500? I'm pretty sure the 96-01 forks interchnage, but does any other models forks swap? cr125, cr250 without having to buy anything but forks? I REALLY NEED SOME HELP! Also, do the older pre 96 forks work, down to 89? Without having to swap the front rim caliper, or anything? I want to use all my original parts except my forks

I have an 89 CR500 and a 93 CR500. the 89 has 1999 CR250 forks and the 93 has 2004 CRF450 forks. You can't swap to either of these without a new wheel, axles, front caliper (might only need the caliper mount, not the whole caliper) and ideally triple clamps. I know a guy that had the clamps on his 94 opened up to fit newer forks, but I don't feel comfortable removing material from the parts that are holding my front wheel in place.
You can look here for info about parts interchangeability:

If you are interested in more info about doing a swap to newer forks, I can help. It's easy to do. It happens to work out that the stops on the clamps work perfectly with the stop on your frame, just using the front of the stop, not the back like it does on the aluminum frame. Just have to purchase a whole new front end (triple clamps, forks, axle, etc) then remove the stem from your 500 and press it into the new clamps. Then you just need a bushing for the top clamp that you can purchase for $30 from emig racing:
Emig Racing - Custom Made Aluminum Parts for Off-Road and Dual Sport Bikes

Contact me if you want more info.

Here's a pic of my 93 with the new triple clamps. It's a work in progress:

Do you know if 93 cr500 forks will work on a 91 cr500? I just discovered my bikes a 91! I just want to bolt the forks on using all my original parts except the forks

Based on the info in the parts reference link I sent you, it doesn't look like the 93's will fit. Different axles, rotors and fork diameters. Not sure that'd be much of an upgrade anyhow. If you're trying to upgrade, go with a real upgrade to the newer showas or don't bother.

I'm not really looking to upgrade really, just to get my bike back on the trails. I was searching ebay and wondered if they'd fit, but the cross reference said it was a no-no, but I found a 91 cr500 rolling chassis for a hunderedd bucks. An also a guy with a set of 250 forks for a 91 that would work too.
