Default TTR fork seals, oil q's

i just noticed that i have blown the left fork seal on my 2001 TTR125L. i figured i just got a peice of sand in the seal somehow, but on second thought, there's no way that much oil got out from a peice of sand. plus, i still have the dust boot thingys on there. i pulled it off and there is a ton of oil sitting there, with lots of sand and grit EVERYWHERE. a peice of 35mm film won't cure this bad boy. i've heard the actual seal change is easy compared to the inverted cartriges on my YZ, so no questions on that, but i have heard Jeff Howe uses a ATF oil in his suspension, but i forget which brand and kind. so Jeff, or anyone else, what do i go use? thanks!

No I don't use ATF anymore. I have used it in the past and it's just too heavy for most bikes. However, if you have need of a 15 wt fluid then Mobil 1 ATF is a decent choice. In your case you could use it and be fine.

I started out being a beleiver in light fluids, then decided I liked heavier, now I'm back with the typical 5 and 7 weights and sometimes even lighter for most of our modern race bikes.

Try the Mobil 1 ATF in those forks as well. set oil level to 100mm and give it a shot.
