Default RM65 sag

i'm asking this for a friend of mine, his son has a new-ish (03, 04 model) RM65 and while we know HOW to adjust the sag, it's the HOW MUCH that has us tied up. I always thought the race sag should be 1/3 of the total travel of the bike's suspension, but i'm unsure of exactly how much that translates to in actual millimeters for the little smoker. also, what should the static sag be, or are we just worrying too much about it? the little tyke is 9 and racing the 65 in the 85 classes and placing very well, so he's a fairly fast rider for his age/bike.

any suggestions?

Don't worry about the other stuff. Just the sag, and yes, 1/3rd of total travel.

25mm = 1inch (close enough anyway).

So if it has 9 inches, you want 3 inches of sag, or 75mm of sag.

thanx

his dad's building a MX track 30 minutes from my home... wants it to be a "mini- durhamtown" and has 600 acres to work with apparently. the track is mostly complete, 28 feet wide at the smallest, and he wants my input going over tomorrow for some seat time on "ye olde D5 Caterpillar" its been a while i'd reckon i'm a bit rusty

Have fun Rob. And Woody is right on with the sag. If you find an owners manual for the bike you'll find out what total rear suspension movement (and front I suppose) is and be able to measure from there.
