Default Rear shock spring removal? Help

Maybe I'm being stupid but I can't get the spring off my rear shock. I have a 94 CR250. I also have a Hanes manual and it doesn't show how to remove it. I have backed the locking nuts all the way off. I have also seperated the part on the bottom of shock that holds shock in position but I can't figure out how to get those two pieces out of the way to slide my old shock off and my new shock on. Do I need to take the lower mount (Fork looking thing) off the shaft? If so how? Thanks for the help guys and I hope I don't sound to stupid. LOL

Not a stupid question.

their is a circlip that holds the bottom on. If you hold the shock upside down and give the spring seat a wack with a rubber hammer on the bottom of the spring seat you will see it move (you might have to wack it a few times) revealing a circlip that you will remove and then the spring seat can be taken off, which in turn free's up the spring for removal.

Hope that helps, and let me know if not as I might have some pictures I can dig up if need be.

Actually, you are NOT alone with that one. I wondered how to get that off for a long time before asking the same question. I will agree though, when I found out, I felt a little silly too. But it's all good.
