 Rear Shock Oil?? Can anyone please tell me what oil to use in a 1989 cr500 rear shock? The service manual only says to use "ATF or equivalent". I have some 5w Fork oil..will that work? Thanks in advance.  |

 Re: Rear Shock Oil?? Don't use regular fork oil. It will fade and loose it's effectiveness too fast. Pick up a pint of shock fluid. Maxima, Motorex, Silkolene and Bel-Ray all make good shock fluids. Then make sure to take your time getting all the air out of the fluid when you are bleeding the shock. And remember, when dealing with suspension, cleanliness is next to godliness. |

| Re: Rear Shock Oil?? bel ray has this a 3 weight oil specifically for shocks. i have had good results with it. it's about $11.00 per quart. one quart will do two shocks. |
