Default Fork oil change 98 RM 250

I am going to change the fork oil. I have a 98 RM 250 with conventional forks,I do not have a manual so any advise would be helpful. I was told 8 inches of oil how do you measure inchs or can you convert that to volume. My forks are very stiff so I am hopeing maybe there is to much oil in them now. Any help would be great.

I'll be honest, I've not done a conventional fork, but I would think the 8" would be the amount of air (fill the oil up to 8" from the top).

That's my thoughts anyway.

NO NO NO!! It is hire then that. My brother is currently searching his garage like nut trying to find his manual. He has the same bike. Well it seems he can not find the manual. But He says you do not not want to do it without one. You will need to know the levels for inner and outer tubes and how to disasemble and reassemble the forks.

210 mm from the top of the leg with the fork fully compressed and the springs removed. That's 8.25 inches.

This is from Eric Gorr's site, just so you don't think I have all this crap stored in my head.
