Default Fork oil or ATF

I am thinking of using Mobile 1 Synthetic ATF in my forks. Locally, it's around 1/2 to 1/4 the cost of fork oil (7.90 a quart at my local AutoZone). I only trail ride, nothing too crazy. I have Enzo sub tanks, and KYB Cartdrigde forks, if that makes a difference.

Has anyone had any bad experiences running ATF in their forks? I want to save a little where I can, but I don't want to waste time and money on parts just to tear it down again because I skimped on fluid.

I've seen some positive reviews of ATF being in forks online, but most posts are a few years old.

We use it in a couple of our bikes and it works well. No issues at all.

...if only my wife saw it that way, haha. She only see's that I'm over my budget for the month.

I've read the info on that site tirebiter, but I'm not sure I'm utilizing my suspension enough to worry that much about fluid. I trail ride more than anything (a little 30-40mph street here and there between trails), and never go to any tracks.

I was just wanting to see if anyone ran it and found that their seals blew out, the teflon on the bushings peeled off, it rode rough, or that the front end wasn't stable anymore, etc.

For casual weekend trail riding, I'm not convinced that I'd notice enough of a difference between the 2 fluids to justify paying 2-3 times the cost of the ATF.

I'm going to give the ATF a shot. I'll post my results after a couple of rides.

I never once noticed any adverse affects. I ran it for about a year.

Wanted to post a final update. I found Honda fork oil locally for 5.99 a quart, so I skipped on the ATF.
The Honda fork oil has been working great.
