Default fork binding?? whats that noise?!?!?

after adjusting the compression and rebound settings 2 clicks, the right fork on my 08 crf450r makes a loud click sound when i compress the fork and also when it rebounds. i adjusted it right before an arenacross race and thats when it began making the noise.

i took both forks off and noticed that, even though they are set the same, the right fork rebounds alot slower then the left one, and after racing, has a leaky seal. ive already put new fork seals in both forks once, along with aftermarket fork springs for my weight, but ive put at least 10 to 12 rides and 4 or 5 races on them already with no problems, so i dont think i messed anything up when i rebuilt them.

anyone have any suggestions as to what i should look for when i take it back apart again? ive been told that my spring may be cracked or possibly broke but i have a hard time believing that (tho i have seen both springs snapped in half on my friends bike before)

I installed 2000 CR125 forks on my XR400 and noticed for some time that when ever my front tire would come off the ground it would click or if I hit some hard bumps it would click. I had a set of seal savers on the forks as well.

Well I tore the bike down to do a major overhaul and when I took the forks off I noticed that the dampening rod on one of the forks had come unscrewed from the cap and that fork had no oil in it.

I haven't got the bike or the forks back together, but I am 99.9% sure that was the clicking I heard in my forks.

well i took it apart, the spring looks fine and the dampening rod doesnt look damaged and also operates smoothly with no clicking sounds. it sounded like it was coming from the fork seal area so i pried back the dust seal and there was a bunch of dirt in there. i took out the little clip thing and pulled on the fork tube until the seal came out.

my question now is..since i took it apart and cleaned everything, can i re-drive the seal back in so i can ride the bike for just this weekend until i can get the new seals in? i didnt take the seal off the fork tube so i didnt damage it by pulling it over the groove

Go for it. I would just make sure the forks aren't dry.
