Default Bearing failure

Well I had a great Sunday planned. A trip up to the Arrowhead to ride some forest action and enjoy the cool weather. I decided to throw a wrench on the bike too make sure everything was tight and in order. As I taking the bike off the stand I heard a "clunk" coming from the lower part of the suspension. Upon further inspection I knew something wasn't right. The dust seal was protruding out...great. There goes my weekend. Now, at my last race (about a 40 mile race) I notice the steering felt a little weird and the rear was packing little in the whoops but I figured it was the fork oil level change and some clicker adjustments I did. I'm pretty bummed but I'll get her fixed up next week.

So without further a due heres what I found.....

Geez Mr Super Duper Desert Racer...

You're awful hard on equipment.

Sorry to hear your riding trip got postponed, at least you caught it though.

Excellent job on giving the bike a little inspection. I know a lot of folks who don't do that. And just to take the edge off your disappointment, it's better to have a broken bike than a broken body. I haven't ridden since May 4th.

Forget the Advil, how about you bring yourself and those cleaning gloves on over to Conroe, TX? I promise I'll keep you stocked in Ben&Jerry's and Coors.

Please don't put us all in the same category, Pete. The Northeastern dudes are the weirdest.

Tracy is racing my bike this weekend so we finally got the shock link back in the bike. I used a break down to make sure I had all the washers in the right place. Then I was looking at the paper and asked Tracy...."Whats that #29"? I don't know she said.....

OK, so I figured why the bearings failed........these parts never made it back in when I rebuilt/regreased the last time.

Chris....If you say "I told you so" I'll smack you one.

Hey Kevin, "I told you so"

Besides, I like when you forget stuff because I always end up making money. Please keep up the good work. At this rate you and Tracy will put my 2 kids through college.

I had the bearings pressed in last week so that not an issue anymore. It's when I was putting the linkage back together I notice the washers in the diagram. The new bearing kit has the new washers. I spent about an hour just making sure everything was put back together correctly. We only have 2 bikes...no back up and right now Tracys Performance 1 Motorports Honda is down due to the head being rebuilt right now. We are looking at a few weeks out so I told Tracy since I'm filming for the MX series she can race my bike for now. She was going to take over the CR when I get a new one but we had to push things up a little. The CRF250 will be leaving in the near future. We will probably sell it for what we owe on it...I want it gone and out of my hair....it's cramping my style. The CR just needs a little fine tuning on the new carb which will be done before this weekend. Other then that it runs pretty well.

Well, at least you got it sorted. Bikes are expensive, no doubt about it.
