Nitrogen is preffered because it is such a large molecule. Argon is so small that it will permeate through the bladder. It's tough to contain.

This is why nitrogen is used. it's a big molecule and will stay put.

Thanks MXtras, I just read about using nitrogen in tires for better pressure consistency (read about it for cars) and they talked about that exact thing. Larger molecules -- that and it isn't affected as much by hot and cold.
