I've run a big bicycle shop for about 12 years and I've installed THOUSANDS of grips. The absolute best adhesive to use is a slow set superglue. Yeah, the hairspray thing works fine for casual riders, but it's gonna slip, safety wire will slow the slipping but not completely. If you get a small hole in the grip and get any water under the grip while pressure washing etc, the grip will slip. Hairspray is very water soluble, obviously. Spraypaint works fairly well, but will sometimes dissolve soft compound grips and can be messy. Grip glues can do the same thing, don't hold particularly well(that's why it's not that hard to romove the old grip!) and can be a super pain to clean up if you smear/drip any. You can use regular super glue but you have to work fast. The best technique I've found is to drizzle some on the bar/throttle and a little in the opening of the grip the slide the grip on with minimal twisting. Perhaps the biggest advantage to superglue is that you can ride immediatly. By the time you put the tube of glue back in your tool box, you're ready for the next moto. Superglue applied very sparingly will also fix a seatcover tear very nicely.

That is good info.

I have used superglue, Renthal grip glue, and hairspray to install my grips and never had a problem with any method.

Another use for superglue is to fix small cuts on your skin. It's like second skin and once the area heals up the superglue falls off.

O, I use this stuff call grip stick or something, its like 50 cents a tube and can do like 5 pairs of grips....I have used blue locktite in a pinch...holds fine for a ride or 2, but did start slipping. It started slipping in a race, which sucked, but a friend had saftey wire amd one of those cool spinning plier tools so we put that on and it worked fine for the rest of the day.
