There is also the way with gas instead of hair spray. just swish some gas in the grips then dump out and pour a little on the bar and they slip right on like a dream and then let sit for about 15 min to let the gas evaporate and your ready to go

I've been away from dirt bikes for awhile, but I always used the gasoline method myself, with excellent results. If you like adhesive, though, the best I've found (You don't dump gas in custom grips for a Harley) is called GripLock. One caveat: It smells like warmed over death and will stay with you for days if you get it on your hands. Stay Dirty, Dave

i have bad luck with grips and glue (i tend to drop the bike a lot). I have tried the honda brand, scotts, renthal all with the same out come and that is slippy grips. I tried pvc glue witch worked much better but not 100%. the safety wire, 16awg i believe, with the pvc glue worked best. my new barkbusters will help to.

Where does one get "slow-set" super glue? The folks at the store look at me like I'm nuts. "Slow set" and "super glue" generally don't go together.

I'm not aware of any... slow set means, you put the grip on FAST as possible.

I've purchased the slow set super glue in the past at hobby shops that carry model building supplies. By "slow" they mean about 15 seconds. You still have to work quickly.

Good question, I'd PM him and see.

I PM'ed him and his response was that he meant the stuff that sets in like 15 seconds, rather than the instant-bond stuff. As I recall, several of the super glues listed 15 seconds working time on the package but are still called "super glue." So I'll be trying some of that as soon as I get a bottle. I might also be getting another set of grips, if it doesn't work out.

Hair spray isn't waterproof. Found that out on the roadracer in a wet race once.

Yeah, that part of hair spray is certainly a down side.

I would still saftey wire them even with the glue. Ask Stickboy what happens when the grips come off.

a great method, only thing i would change is instead of hairspray, use a very quick shot of spray paint into the inside of the grip. makes it slide on easy, and never move until you want it to...... color makes no diff, its always covered
