An o- ring chain will rub the cases behind the counter sprocket on the kx's , cr's and crf's. For what it is worth I put a set of iron-man sprockets on my steed with a did 520 ert . I have a good 5 rides on them and they flat out look awesome. I am taking them up on the 1 year guarantee .Of course I will be replacing the chain when do,but I hope they know how much some of us ride. Last edited by Keith 455; 12-04-2003 at 01:47 PM.

c`mon guys - shaft drive is best...just look close at my secret shaftdrive honda cr500...built by NASA-your tax dollars at work...O ring chains rob your rear wheel of horsie power...and of course REAL MEN use sidewinder chain and sprockets...check out the website-it is awesome!......Vic Krause at Sidewinder sells the best chains and sprockets in the world...but then-you really really should have known....oh yeah- avoid the roost Last edited by Woody_393; 12-16-2006 at 01:05 AM.

big guns no, it does not do anything to revrse the sprocket. the sproket flip and the washer both move the sprocket away the same amount

not spam...i joke around-but vic krause (the original Mr Know It All ) did improve on the sprocket and chain...he designed the grooved cutouts to throw off the mud-he came up with quick change 2 peice sprockets for gearing changes-uses laser cutting for precision tolerances-stainless steel or tool steel-matched chain and sprockets-i know it sounds like spam-but it`s true-check out sidewindersprockets website...its important to keep the rear wheel straight in the swingarm and to make sure the swingarm can go through it`s whole range of motion without having the chain become too tight-otherwise it puts major strain on the countershart bearings....30 years ago we were dipping our chains into melted bacon grease-nowdays they sell chain lube in a spraycan...i agree with keeping it clean-that`s very important-if you have an oring chain be careful when cleaning or else you`ll damage the rubber o rings...wire brushes can rip the rubber....and remember to Avoid the Roost

I never heard of the bacon grease either, I used to use oil like YP said, but never bacon grease. I bet it would work well though, it wouldn't fling off that's for sure.

lol you guys I have a serious question on this what is the best chain for the desert X or O ring.
|

| ||||
Either one will be fine. X is supposed to last a little longer but then again, they usually cost a tad more too. For the sand, the O and X are the way to go.

the non oring racing chains are noticeably lighter when you pick them up,,maybe 4 ozs. I guess that is worth it to factory sorts.
