i dont think i would want to run that ratio u would want to run a 32:1 or 4ounces or 3 ounces to 1US gallon.

We always ran my sisters Banshee 40:1 and it ran great for years. With that said we ran a good oil.

Ahh what the heck. I run Klotz Benol at 40:1 with octane booster mixed with 93 pump gas. My Octane should be around 96-98 with the booster. Everything runs good, don't have any plug fouling problems or excess spooge.

Doesnt the ethanol they add to gas act as an octane booster?

I may be wrong, but the way that I understand it, the ethinol actually helps draw oxygen into the cylinder and helps things burn cleaner. It can also cause jetting problems if your engine is not jetted for that type of fuel. As for the oil ratio I run, I have found 40:1 to work just great. I like running Klotz oils with the benol, but when funds are tight the Yamalube works pretty well too at the same ratio. For air cooled engines I will drop to 32:1 for those.

Default Old school

Well, I found a good bargain on ebay and bough 2 gallon of benol for 32.50 each so I'm happy with it and then out of curiosity and for old time sake, looked up for some castrol R40 and holy sweet, found some and bough 4 gallon of it to (Cant beat that castor smell in an old bike). I'll run the castrol R40 at 24:1 with supreme added with some octane booster. Yes I know that she might leave some gums and smoke a bit but what the hell? Both my bike (RM250 83 and YZ490 89) dont have a power valve to gum up. I'm going out for a ride this weekend and I'll check my brand new plug when I'll get back. I'll let you guys know how it'll turn out. I never got a problem back in the eighties with the R40 and hope that it'll be the same nowadays.
