 yz426 Tranny Problems! HELP Just looking for someone to give me some info on my 02 yz426. When I shift into 5th gear, it slips a couple quick times before taking on off. Has anyone had this problem before, or maybe know what is going on, before I tear into it. Thanks  |

 Re: yz426 Tranny Problems! HELP You have just become a member of the "blown 5th gear club". You will need to tear into it. Not an easy job but it's doable. Do you have a magnetic drain plug? If you do I promise you there is a piece of your 5th gear on it! Pull it apart and inspect all of the gears. You want to look closely at 3rd and 4th while your in there and if they look worn replace them. |

| Re: yz426 Tranny Problems! HELP Found this on another site: Here is your problem. This was my 3rd gear. as you can see the the wheel has round edges and that causes it to try to push the fork away. That«s why it feels like it is slipping, that is everytime you deliver throttle and power enough for the wheel so that it can«t hold its position. Just replace the shift fork and the two wheels that are supposed to be held together when 5th gear is engaged..
