Useful CRF450 Carb Settings - '02 & '03
First off sorry guys I don't have this info for an '04.
Stock info right from the service manual (so these are quotes). And if you have modded your bike (like a pipe) these aren't valid starting points. This is for STOCK only.
The standard carburetor settings are ideal for the following conditions: sea level altitude, and 20 deg C or 68 deg F air temps. If your conditions are different, you may need to adjust the carburetor settings.
Float level: 8.0 MM (.26")
Pilot screw (fuel screw):
'02: 1 1/4 turns out
'03: 1 1/2 turns out
Slow Jet (pilot jet):
Jet Needle Clip Position:
'02: 4th position
'03: 5th position
Special Circumstances - Main Jet:
1. Go richer on the main jet, by one number, when the track has a very long straightaway, steep climbs, a high percentage of sand, or the track is muddy.
2. Go leaner on the main jet, by one number, when it is very humid or raining, or if it's hotter then 113 deg F (45 deg C).
I thought it would be nice to have that online for those times when the book isn't available. Possible KB Candidate?

Oh, one question, does anyone remember if when counting the clip positions if you count from the top or the bottom (top being the part with the stopper, bottom being the end closest to the point)?
