As you can see, the only material you need is a piece of 1mm thick Stainless Steel less than 2 inches square... you would probably find it in the off-cut bin at some metal merchants...

As long as it's flat, you are in business... cut carefully, use the template on the PDf file... just make sure you print it at 100% size...

Yamaha.dude..
not to take away from the work done, an awesome write up, but emailed chris about it.. the plate needs to be longer..

the one i copied from an actually bought powernow misses the slide by about 1mm... and the top of the 'T' shaped plate should be on the air filter side.... other than that, pretty much right on...
he even made the same mistake i did by cutting the first lines wrong....

if anyone else has any questions, feel free to ask me..

maybe i should just make and sell the plates... lol..

i have made quite a few of them.. the first took a while since it was the first.. the whole job, including scoring the bell takes maybe an hour or two.. (i like to be careful and pretty exact)

they work as well if not better than advertised.. i feel it is equivalent to the GB/BK mod in terms of improvement fo throttle response and being able to feel the difference

I'm surprised the Carb companies don't do this... It would be easiest for them in my calculations.

Blue,
i was just curious about the pics..
... BrandonW used the one i sold him and was impressed enough to write a pretty long write up of it over on TT that started the do it yourself post. Chris from oz emailed me and i told him how to do it...

was fun to watch the nay sayers feed on that one..

are they the same pics as the ones yamaha.dude posted above?

Not the same pics, toyrona's Toyota corona is in the background, he's got it sitting on his wheelie bin, his mod that is

The nay sayers probably cant grasp the concept of the increased air speed.

If you want you can email them to me, and I'll post them, either by making them smaller or via a link to my web server.

jwoody@zwoody.com if you need it.

It is more than just the airflow speed... though ultimately that is the large part... it is basically presenting a smaller size at part throttle openings and stopping a lot of the air hitting the slide and then having to deflect down the face of the slide and then turn rightangles into the throat of the carb... I will draw a pic of what would be the ultimate powernow type device... a constantly variable deflector that moved in sync with the slide...

Its O.K. i have the idea, i also have some other ideas i want to try with it.

oops just read your post again, show me, show me, show me.

Just to add to that, my porting experience tells me that when the air hits the slide it could almost block half that hole that is exposed.
