Default Poor-Boy restoration- "The Hodaka-Files"

This just has to be done to offset those beautiful Honda's Dogger is bulding!

Anyone remember this pile?

Been playing in the Man Cave some lately and it's almost a roller.

This bike has been built to this point by using up spares I had on hand. Forks/triples/bars/shocks from my Super Rat. Wheels have been replaced with useable ACE pieces. Frame, assorted parts and tank were sandblasted. Fenders (98 front and an unknown rear) were scuffed and painted with that Krylon plastic paint. They look good and we'll see if it's durable.....The tank on the other hand- not too proud of THAT job. I really don't have the patience to be a body man and it looks like crap. It will do till a budget-priced chrome tank shows up. Or not.

A friend just gave me an old aftermarket pipe that should adapt w/some creative rigging/welding.

Next up is an engine overhaul. Clutch if free as well as the piston and the tranny shifts. Fingers are crossed that a new bore and some bearings bring it back to life.

Budget? Bike was more or less free after selling some pieces from the other half of the package deal it came with. Twenty bucks of spray bomb and sand and $30.00 for some wheels.

N.O.S. parts? We don't need no stinkin' N.O.S. parts!

Very nice Andy!! It's always nice when you have spare parts that reduce the costs.

Andy, the Ace is looking good. The fenders look great, keep us posted on
the durability angle (I'm always looking for alternative resto techniques).
Great ambiance in the picture from the "man cave", and I love that trick
work stand.

You know I have a real soft spot for the old Hodakas, so please keep
the pictures and the details coming. I'm really looking forward to the
next installment.

Nice Andy, I need to get motivated to get out and work on my last couple purchases. Was your gas cap intact or is that a replacement?? I might have some parts you can use, I'll send you a PM with some pics.

Gas cap is an original on the wrong tank for this bike. Gonna paint it white now I think.

What parts do you have Robbie? I'm looking for an air cleaner set-up now (Squirt style) and fitting an old aftermarket pipe too.....

If I score the Road Toad I'm after, my count will be 3 Ray. 4 if you count the carcass of an old T'Dog in the garage. And when you gonna get an AHRMA National anyway man?.?.?. You got the pit area covered and the track rocks!

The shocks are stock Super Rat shocks Timmy (Model 98 in Hodaka-Speak).

While I'm here, does anyone know where I can find a weld-on steel bodied muffler other than from J.C. Whitney? Lookiing for something round and 7-8 inches long.

We will get our LLQ again next year, AHRMA is a tough one track maybe alittle much. That last request won't touch that one.

I used to have / race a 1970 100 B+. I still can't believe how much abuse that bike withstood.
What a neat project.
