Default '78 Maico 400 Suspension Needed

Well its the off season for the EVO Series and I'm trying to refresh my 78 Maico 400's suspension before the new season starts in August.

I've been checking out ebay and looking around, but I'm having a hard time finding a set of Ohlins rear shocks that fit my bike (and that are for sell). So far my options are waiting until something comes along on Ebay, or the guys at Vintage Iron said they can set me up with some Works Shocks for around $500.

I've been told that I "need" to get some Ohlins for my bike so I'm trying to hold out for some of those. I'm looking to spend around $500 for a set of ready to go shocks. I also need a new set of fork springs too since my current one aren't stiff enough (figure around another $100 for those).

I weigh about 165+ pounds and if you are looking to get rid of a pair of shocks--I'm interested.

PS I think my bike uses a 15.5" eye-to-eye length shocks on the rear, but I was hoping you guys would know the length I need. I have some Progressive Pogo Sticks on there now that seem to be that length, but I'm not a 100% sure they are right to begin with.

Thanks for the Help!

Looking on Works Performance Application guide, all of the 77-78 400's
use a 13.5 inch shock.

Just looked on Charlie Richardson's site and you can get brand new Ohlins for 590.00 a pair.

They are about half way down the page.

I would just call Maico Only & see what they say.

Ok, so far my options are...

Vintage Iron - Works Shocks around $500
Maico Only - Ohlins Shocks at $739

Does anyone else know any places I should call to get quotes? Also any opinions are welcome too.

Kyle:

You can try several of the Maico dealers or you can try some of the Vintage shops.

North west Maico CZ

East coast Maico

Canadian Maico connection

You can even try to get the Works shock from Works them self
