Default 360 Husky Rebuild Project

Here is a small report on my 1976 husky rebuild.

Part I.

I am first starting with the motor so I took off the head to check the piston size so I could replace the ring. Man I had the head in a bout 10 mins, which includes taking off the tank and pipe. Can't do that on a 4 stoke ok well I can't.. I got the piston number off the top and called it in to one of the vintage husky parts guy and he told the bore was still standard which really blew me a way as I could remeber I was 30 over and was worried about finding a ring for it. My guess is I must have had a new sleve put in and just don't remember but that was 30 years ago.
I was able to order a new ring, new rubber for the carb and air cleaner and seals for the clutch side case. This was about $200 I can't believe these parts are so expensive go figure.
After I get the ring in and replace the seals and clean out the carb I will be starting on the frontend replacing the fork seals and new rim, spokes and tire. I will post part II as soon as I can, maybe some pics as well.

A long time riding buddy of mine raced a husky 360 automatic, I think it was a 360 anyway not sure about the Husky models. But he was dominant in the over 30 expert class back in the day. To get to the point, I talked to him a few months back and he had purchased a bike just like the one he had and is rebuilding it. The Husky's are coming back!

I plan on trying my hand at some vintage racing, I feel at home on that bike, well as long as the tracks are setup for vintage bikes too.

Judging by the up close pics, it looks like she's survived well over the years.

Are you going to give it a good detailing and leave as is or tear completely apart and repaint? I personally like bikes that have the patina of use.....

Well I did tear her down all the way and painted everything. Like I was saying before she looks good but not a show bike at all. I will have it at GMB this year ...I'm looking to find the vintage racing around here but seems like most of it is either way north or way south from me...

Well if I still lived in Cali it would but for now I'm looking for the vintage tracks out here to race....

Rear wheel goes to Buchana's this week for new spokes and polish on the rim, all most done....
