****VIRUS ALERT**** Should you receive a email that appears to have originated from ATM that advises you to open an attachment that is contained within it to correct a virus problem, this is an attempt to infect your machine with a virus. Doing so will infect your system and you will in turn begin sending out emails, from your machine that are addressed to those in your browsing history, personal address books, etc.. This is just another malicous attempt by others to contaminate the internet. ***ATM will NEVER send a file attachment to you, nor will we EVER ask you to open one.*** ***Virus Tips*** 1. ALWAYS have a current virus scanning program running on your system and ensure that you are running up to date security patches 2. Look for emails that have similar subject lines and attachments. Often these will be an attempt to infect you. 3. DO not EVER open a file ending in .PIF, ZIP, or EXE without first cerifying the source and/or scanning the contents of the file FIRST. ATM uses very sophisticated virus detection means to keep the server, and the emails it sends virus free. However, a virus can claim to send emails from any host. Therefore, it is possible to receive a email that APPEARS to be from ATM and contains a virus. This is a means of the infection covering its tracks and to lure you into opening a file from a "trusted" source as it propagates. If you are not sure about the origin of an email, DO NOT open any attachments.

Here is an example that was sent to me--supposedly from my own server!! Subject: E-mail account security warning. Part(s): 2 TextDocument.zip application/octet-stream 16.62 KB Hello user of Allthingsmoto.com e-mail server, Some of our clients complained about the spam (negative e-mail content) outgoing from your e-mail account. Probably, you have been infected by a proxy-relay trojan server. In order to keep your computer safe, follow the instructions. For further details see the attach. For security purposes the attached file is password protected. Password is "55335". The Management, The Allthingsmoto.com team http://www.allthingsmoto.com

That virus has been out for a few days now. It is usually a zip file with a password in the body of the message. At work they said to get infected you must open the attachment and put in the password. Be careful with any zip file attachments!
