Angry Wow not cool

I dropped my bike off at Bay Cycles thinking they would fix my jetting crankseals ect. Well its been 3 weeks and we picked it up. The guys did not charge us and said "ok we moved your needle down, if it does not work bring it back." I was a little shocked it took him 3 weeks to move the jet needle down....We get it back to the shop start it up, same problems! And now gas pours out of the overflow tube. I've come to the conclusion he let the bike sit for 3 weeks and did the needle at the last minute. THIS SUCKS. Not to mention he ripped my grips and scratched my plastics "test riding" it.

Sounds like Bay Cycles has more business than they can deal with. Now is a good time to start learning how to do it yourself. It's scary. It takes a lot of trial and error. And it takes a lot of time. But with a good manual, you can learn a ton and save even more money. PLUS, you know it is done right!

If they're noticable and the bike is running worse than it was, than its definitly worth it.

Hahaha freak.

(Systems of the bike for people who dont know) Rich bog, excessive smoke, wont start while hot.

Well I talked to another shop. My dad told them he doesnt care the amount of money he just wants it fixed. The other shops reply was this:

"You could probably use a top end rebuild. You are probably losing compression when it gets hot. The cyclinder is warping when it gets hot, making it hard to start. We would put a sleeve around the piston."

Would this solve my spooge problem? I still say I need jetting..

I would say you still need to jet it. Not sure if I would have them do your top end. Too bad Eric was not still in bizz. That man did a nice job on my 500. Pull your jug and send it off to someone who knows what there doing. These guys seem fishy.

unlucky bout your bike being sat in the shop for 3 weeks. since i got my cr250 four years ago i told myself i would never take it to a bike shop to get anything done, i have stayed true to my word and now know how to strip a two stroke down to every single piece. ive had trouble with bike shops in the past, cutting corners or faulty workmanship. i find it hard that they can hand bikes back in a lesser condition than what u gave it to them, they should be trying to take pride in their work. in all honesty, either find urself a shop that can do the work properly and isnt too $$$$$, or get a manual and learn how to do it.

Just curious, while rebuilding your topend, do you need to know the current maker your piston, gaskets, ect are from so you can order the same ones, or does it not make a difference?

personally i like to keep a factory piston and ring in it....seems like they last a little longer (to me anyway)

the gasket doesnt matter its just what ever will seal it up and keep it from leaking.

man your better off learning to do it yourself shops will try to fix things that aren't broken just to get a few more dollars out of you.

i couldn't work at a place like that, i mean if i put something together and had to cut corners and someone got hurt on it because of me, id feel like crap for the rest of my life.

It isn't too hard to get a lawyer to draw up a letter telling these guys what they are going to do to make it right for you, if they start getting ignorant. It works better if you know one, even make it up if you have to. I had simialr probs with a body shop that did work on my van. Came out with more scratches than it went in with. Some people have no respect. How the heck can you rip grips when it is supposed to be in the shop? sounds like they took it out for a weekend if you ask me and let his kid ride it. That is why I do my own work, or try to. If I can't fix it, it sits. I don't need the hassle. Then they try to cover it up by NOT charging you? What bike shop on this planet does things free of charge? SOunds waayyy too fishy.

I agree 100%. He told me " I rode the f*** out of it." Well it shows. The plastics are ok for the most part, but the grips are trashed

My dad owns an auto body shop so he knows that routine. He knew as soon as I told him that he didnt charge us that is wasnt right.

The guy told us to bring it back if it doesnt work so he can do the crankseals. He can forget about it

Oh and today my dad's friend played the air screw on the bike, and he test rode, he said now he can feel a BIG hit. It actually wheelied him without him wanting too (and hes 6 feet + and over 200lbs) It still smokes and it isnt perfect, but at least I can TRY to ride this weekend. I still dont know how messing with air screw helped out my bike so much.
