Default WILL THIS MAKE MY MOTORCYCLE LOOK WIERD???

I want to spray paint my shrouds glossy black. They are already black, but are kind of scratched..

Will the paint get chipped off the plastics when i fall and stuff?

i think that would be a big yes it will scratch if you want to test this (not recomended) go out side push your bike over and see if it chips away at some of the paint.

Go to your local dealer & see if they have a plastic repair kit, that will make them look much better.

I have seen some painted plastic's ,but they were done by a paint & body shop & they cost about what new plastic would cost. thay were painted because there were no NOS for an old Vintage bike that was going to be in a museum.

If you can get OEM or aftermarket like UFO or Acerbis, then buy those. Spray paint on plastic will most likely turn out to be alot of work and look like crap. If you do not sand the plastic enough it will chip off. Unless you are a pro at it (sanding, painting) the plasic renew is good stuff, better off than spray paint.

i read somewhere that you can blow a heat gun on the plastic to lightly melt the plastic just enough so it smooths over the light scratches. also, yes you can paint plastic. i roadrace sport bikes and the street body work on them is all plastic which is painted. you must use an epoxy primer that will stick to plastic though. on a dirt bike its way more likely to see the ground on a regular basis as well as get hit by stones and what not which would cause chipping and flaking.
