Try buying parts for one! Sheesh I can buy a new cyl and piston for my yz at the same cost of valves and springs and shims for a YZF. Little $10 metal aspirins

250f's have been available for about 13 years now and they've always been more expensive than 2 stroke.

Print off a complete parts list for each and compare which has more parts. Also take more time to assemble more parts. R&D costs money, very little R&D going into 2 strokes.

Is that the only reason the 250f is more expensive are there not any perks over the 250 2 stroke?

It cost more to make a 250f than a 250 2 stroke. There are just more parts and much more machine work needed to build one.

The power delivery is smoother and you get to work on it more

The perks of riding a four stroke..

they're not near as much fun
you'll have a tendency to develop lazy habits
they're heavier
maintenance doesn't cost that much more, but you have valves and stuff to worry about
did i mention.. they're not near as much fun?

Mostly because if they charged the same price for a YZ250 as a YZ250f then the demand they do have for the YZ250 would likely erode. That and the YZ250 has been around in the same form for more years than I can count. Still a fun bike but they haven't spent much R&D money on it in the last 10 years.

You do realize you're comparing apples and oranges, right?
