THIS is one of the BEST things you can do for your bike and your self. You will notice a HUGE difference. The shock and fork oil does wear out and it wears out pretty quick to be honest.

I changed my fork oil for the first time this last January I think it was. Then I changed them again about 2 months ago.

My forks are leaking now, so I'm going to do them again in the next couple of weeks.

The shock hasn't been done since my revalve (1.5 years ago : ), but I've got the fluid and the tools, and it's next on my list of things to do. Should happen this next weekend. Can't wait to see how much better it gets.

My plan is to change the oil in both ends every quarter if I ride every weekend, if not I'll do it semi-annually. It's pretty easy (once you've done it once, even then it's not too tough, but I agree, it's intimidating for the first time).

Yes Char, it can be intimidating the first time. Like woody already said after the first time it's a sinch. My buddy doesn't want to do his own stuff so he sends if off ect... not a bad plan but I hted having to pay bills for something that I can do myself with a little elbow grease. My .02

Woody, we all look forward to one of your 'photo specials' on changing fork oil. Failing that, I suppose I'll have to resort to the maintenance manual!

Sounds good. I'll have to have Bates over so he can learn it, while taking pictures. The biggest problem with doing it and taking pics is your hands get dirty/oily, which makes touching the $400 camera, pretty much out of the question unless I go wash my hands every time i need to take a shot.

But I'll do it.

I'll also document changing the fork seals.

I'm definitely past due on my ATV. I'll have to see about doing it sometime in the future months. Maybe in the winter??
