| And we thought Jedi's tire changing technique needed some improvement...... Jedi decided to help out one of his riding buddies who was having some issues with his valves holding tolerance and install a new set of Ferrera stainless steel valves. Below is a short photo documentery of Jedis technique. [IMG] [/IMG] since there was no spring compressor available Jedi decides to pry the valves out with a craftsman flat screwdriver then give them a slight tap with a hammer so the stem will bend and they will stay in place. [IMG] [/IMG]head with three of the valves bent so Jedi can perform the next step [IMG] [/IMG]the next step in his process was to saw off the end of the valves using a hack saw. i dont know if you have every tried to saw titanimum with a hacksaw, but it was a lengthy process cutting the heads off of 5 valves!!! [IMG] [/IMG]New stainless valves ready for installation. [IMG] [/IMG]Jedi must have roughed the valve guides when he drove the stems out with the screwdriver, so here he has to tap the valves into position using a small hammer. next step..... install the head tomorrow and post up a full ride report. |

| Note to self: Do not accept Jedi's offer to rebuild my top end Seriously though, I've used a stick covered in electrical tape to fix something on my bike (and it did the trick perfectly)... Whatever works works Last edited by Miles711; 12-13-2007 at 12:35 AM. |
