All,
Not many of you outside of District 37 and desert racing know of Billy Dean and the website "The Banner Is Up", Billy's wife passed away suddenly and I want to extend the entire Family's condolences to Billy.

Here is a link to the D37 Message Board for the scoop: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Our thoughts and prayers are with Billy and our brothers and sisters in D37's Desert Racing community.

Respectfully,
Bill Barnard

Thank you Bill our Thoughts are with Billy at this time here in D-37. For all of you who don't know what the "The Banner is up" is all about let me give you a brief description.

The banner is up is a play on our starts here in the desert races. The hosting club raises a club banner and when the banner is up the desert goes quiet. The banner signals time to start. Our starts are dead engine starts so when the banner goes up all engines must go quiet including spectator bikes. When the banner drops hundreds of bikes kick (or push button) to life and race across the desert towards the "bomb" which is the beginning of the race course.

The banner is up web site is a web site dedicated to the history of desert racing in D-37. Old pictures of copies of results, finisher pins, racing and a history of top plate holders over the years are some of the things that are found on the Banner is up site.
