top end change???

Default top end change???

it says in the honda manual u ave to change piston n ring every
7.5 hrs or before every third race. seems a bit harsh to me

wot appens if u leave it a bit longer? doe's it do damage quick
how long will a 2001 cr125 run without a top end change?
or do i ride it saturday n rebuild it on sunday???

about 4-6 months on the rings, and a piston every other ring change.

Thats a bunch of bull if you ask me. My manual says the same thing. It even says to replace your drive chain every 3 hours of riding!!! Honda just wants more money, piston and rings will last you about 6-8 months of good hard riding.

i supose if you do extreme high proformance riding you might need to change them that often, but i doubt it. i give my XR 200 a hell of a floddin and i dont do nuttin but lube the chain and tighten the chain every now and then!

mavrick- keep in mind that a 4 stroke top end lasts a lot longer than a 2 stroke top end- the CR 125 is a two stroke. The reason the 4 strokes last longer is because they are lubed by a constant supply of oil from the engine- a 2 stroke top end gets its lubrication from oil mixed in the gas.
